SEARICE is bringing this year’s celebration of WORLD FOOD DAY to the University of the Philippines, Diliman campus, with the participation of the NCCPEM UP Church of the Risen LORD as venue host. This year’s activities include consultations and round table discussions on the agriculture issues affecting our farmers today. Farmer-breeders from Luzon and Mindanao will be on hand to participate. A seed fair and seed exchange will be held as a highlight activity of the event.
Alongside the seed fair, an organic tiangge will also be held during the three-day event. Organic growers and producers will be providing their organic produce and products. Varieties of organic brown rice will also be featured in a taste test, as well as the sampling of Vitamin A-rich viands during lunch hosted by SEARICE.
As aan added service to the UP community, SEARICE will be facilitating various discussion fora on topics ranging from Farmers’ Rights and Intellectual Property Rights in relation to plant genetic resources to a discussion on genetically-modified organisms. A seminar on Bio-intensive Gardening (BIG) will also be held for the benefit of the UP community.
